When winter tyres are compulsory
Winter tyres are compulsory from 1 December to 1 March. The rule covers passenger cars (M1), vans up to 3.5 tonnes (N1), trailers of 0.75 to 3.5 tonnes (O2), and L6e and L7e vehicles with a cabin.

How deep the tread must be
During the compulsory period a winter tyre must have at least 3.0 mm of tread, a summer tyre at least 1.6 mm.

3PMSF, M+S and the ice symbol
Since 1 December 2022 only the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) counts in Estonia. The older M+S marking on its own is no longer enough: it is the manufacturer's own claim, with no compulsory test behind it.

195 is the width in millimetres. 65 is the profile, the sidewall height as a percentage of the width, so 195 × 0.65 ≈ 127 mm. R is radial construction. 15 is the rim diameter in inches.

How do I know which tyre size fits my car?
The size is in the vehicle documents and usually on the sticker in the driver's door pillar. If several sizes are approved for the car, the sticker lists them all. In the catalog you can pick by size or by car.
Can I fit a tyre with a higher speed rating?
Yes. A higher rating always fits, a lower one does not. The same holds for the load index — which is why our filter is a floor rather than an exact match.
Why do two tyres of the same size differ twofold in price?
Mostly the label classes, the tread type and the year of manufacture. Compare the fuel efficiency and wet grip classes — they are measured by the same method and are the one direct comparison between two tyres.
Do the tyres have to be fitted at your workshop?
No. An order can be collected from any of the three pickup points and fitted anywhere. Our workshops in Tallinn and Tartu are at the same addresses where the goods are handed over, which saves one trip.
