Used tires — page 300

What is checked on a used tyre

Remaining tread

Every listing prints the tread left in millimetres. The law allows a summer tyre down to 1.6 mm and a winter tyre down to 3.0 mm; the Transport Administration advises thinking about a summer tyre at 2 mm already.

Air-tightness

The tyre is checked for leaks before it goes on sale.

Sidewall condition

Sidewall damage and carcass integrity are inspected.

Date of manufacture

DOT is the week and year the tyre was built. Where the supplier gives it, it is on the listing — and the list can be ordered by it.

Used tyres carry a warranty against hidden defects.

A tyre and rim shop with its own workshops in Tallinn and Tartu

Tyres and rims are collected from the workshop that fits them: Mixauto in Tallinn, Jalaka Autoteenindus in Tartu. There are three counters — Priisle tee 16 and Telliskivi 57D in Tallinn, Jalaka 77 in Tartu.
